However, these positive announcements have been overshadowed by the news of two new viruses aimed at Apple computers. These viruses have already been unleashed, targeting a vulnerability in the Safari web browser. The first virus, called Leap (OSX/Leap-A), spreads via the Apple iChat instant messaging program on computers running Mac OS X. Those using iChat can send instant messages to Apple users as well as others using America Online's popular AIM Instant Messenger. The second virus, a computer worm called Ingtana (OSX.Ingtana.A), also attacks the Mac OS X through its Bluetooth wireless capabilities.Plantronics CS70N

While neither of these viruses is devastating, nor are they spreading quickly. Security specialist are warning that this could be the beginning of more attacks on the Mac operating system. Mac OS X users should make sure to update their operating system frequently to ensure that they are protected from these and future viruses.
